Join Our Exceptional Animal Centre Team as an Animal Technician!Our Animal Centre is more than just a facility - it's a vibrant, hands‑on environment where innovation, high standards of welfare, and outstanding student experiences come together. With over 100 animals spanning a diverse range of species - including pygmy goats, Gambian pouched rats, and an extensive LVI collection - the Centre has expanded significantly in recent years, and we're now looking for a dedicated Animal Technician to support its continued growth.
This is an opportunity to join a well‑established team that takes pride in excellent animal care and providing meaningful learning opportunities for students. As an integral part of our close‑knit and supportive technical team, you'll help maintain exceptional welfare standards, assist with enrichment and husbandry routines, and contribute to the day‑to‑day running of a busy educational environment where no two days are ever the same.
With the introduction of the new T Level in Animal Management, this is an exciting time to join us. You'll play a key role in supporting practical learning, helping students develop confidence and competence in real‑world animal care settings. We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, proactive, and passionate about both animals and education.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities- Maintain high standards of animal welfare across the college's animal collection
- Carry out daily husbandry tasks, health checks, and enclosure maintenance
- Monitor animal health and wellbeing and record accurate welfare information
- Supervise learners during practical activities and demonstrate best practice
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare, health and safety, and biosecurity standards
- Work independently on a rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications- Level 3 qualification in Animal Management (or equivalent)
- Practical experience working with a range of animal species
- Knowledge of animal welfare legislation and safe working practices
- Experience supervising or supporting learners or volunteers
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Flexible approach to working hours and duties
